Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2012 Bark in the Park - Walk for the Animals!  It was another successful event!  To view photos from this year's event, please visit our Facebook page!

Fetch your sneakers and grab a furry friend for a 1.5 mile journey around Arrowhead Park in Maumee.  Bark in the Park is one of our largest fundraising events.  Donations raised help us care for of 6,000 animals that pass through the shelter every year. (All four-legged participants must be on a leash please.)

In addition to the Walk, participants can enjoy parking lot activities, games, food, musical entertainment from DJ Mike Mitchell, demonstrations, pet contests and more. Plus, over 40 local vendors will be on-hand with information relevant to animal-lovers.  

Walkers are asked to gather pledges to help support the animals of TAHS.  Participation and gathering pledges is even easier with our online registration!  You can create your own personal fundraising page where you can effortlessly and securely collect pledges from friends, family and co-workers.  Set a goal for yourself or assemble a team and collect as a group! Through your personal fundraising page, you can keep track of your progress and see who is leading the pack in donations.  Even if you cannot attend the day of the event, your personal fundraising page will allow you to support TAHS from home! 

Each walker raising $25 or more in donations will receive a t-shirt for their particpation and support*.  Special prizes will also be given to top individuals and teams in different categories. All winners will be announced on our website following the walk. 

*"Virtual Walkers" who raise at least $25 but do not participate in the Walk are eligible for a t-shirt, but must be able to pick it up from the Toledo Area Humane Society no later than May 31, 2013.T-shirts are available while supplies last.*

Assembling a Team is Easy!
 Select a team name for your group, along with a team captain who will coordinate your efforts.  Once you gather your walking team, begin gathering pledges and supporters and tracking your progress through your online profile.  

Creating a team is a great way to have fun with your friends or to boost employee morale by coming together in support of TAHS. 

Tips for Collecting Pledges

•  Be the first to make a pledge.  Show you believe in the cause you're promoting
• Challenge departments within your organization to see who can raise the most money.  Some companies may even sponsor prizes within groups - for example, a "dress-down day", a paid day off, or a VIP parking spot for the employee who raises the most money.  
• When collecting pledges, be sure to ask for a few dollars and even loose change as a pledge. Loose change can really add up when you have a large number of people donating little bits at a time.  
• Hold a bake sale or even a dog wash or car wash to raise funds
• See if your company has a matching gift program
