MEGA Adoption Event
Saturday, October 6 & Sunday, October 7
11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. each day
Westfield Franklin Park Mall, Sylvania Rd. parking lot
We'll be hosting our second MEGA Adoption Event on Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7 at Westfield Franklin Park Mall (in the Sylvania Rd. Parking lot) from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Our goal is to do 200 adoptions in just 2 days! The Toledo Area Humane Society, along with the the Dachsund Rescue of North America, the Lucas County Dog Warden, the Lucas County Pit Crew, Planned Pethood, the Ohio Small Dog Rescue, and Paws and Whiskers Cat Shelter, will have many wonderful dogs, cats and maybe even some pocket pets, looking for their new forever homes.
We will have special adoption fees for both dogs and cats that week! Cat adoption fees will range from $5 to $25 dollars and dog adoption fees will be reduced up to 50%*. If you have a resident dog and are looking to adopt another dog from TAHS, please be sure to bring your resident dog to the event. You will be required to do a dog-to-dog introduction, just as if you were doing the adoption here at TAHS.
Our first MEGA Adoption Event in August was a MEGA success! Five local area animal rescue groups, including TAHS, Planned Pethood, the Lucas County Dog Warden, the Lucas County Pit Crew, and the Wood County Humane Society, did 180 adoptions in just 2 days! And we're out to beat that number for our next MEGA Adoption Event - but we need your help! Help us spread the word so we can do more adoptions and save more lives!
As you may be aware, the Toledo Area Humane Society is currently competing in the ASPCA $100K Rachel Ray Challenge. The overall goal of the ASPCA $100K Challenge is for animal shelters and humane societies across the country to save more lives and to get rewarded for their efforts.
The second round of the Challenge, which began August 1 and goes through October 31, focuses on adopting as many animals as possible for each participating organization - with the goal being to adopt 300 more dogs and cats than they did during the same three-month period last year. For TAHS, that means our adoption goal for August through October is to adopt out 878 dogs and cats! That's a lot of animals! If we can achieve that goal, we will win at least $5,000 to directly benefit the animals here at the Humane Society.
As of mid-September, we've done over 600 adoptions! We're off to such a great start, that we've already been awarded prize money to help save even more animals in our community. Follow us on Facebook and help us spread the word - Together we can save more lives!
*Dog and cat adoption fees will vary by participating organization.
