Animal Tails Summer Camp Opportunities

Are you looking for a way to get ahead of hearing "I'm bored" from your kids in the summer?  Then the Toledo Area Humane Society has just the thing for you!  Our Animal Tails Summer Camp programs offer a fun, hands-on way to beat the boredom, especially for young animal-lovers!  

The Toledo Area Humane Society offers a full-services Education Department, teaching compassion and responsibility to the youth of our community.  Our animal-themed Animal Tails Summer Camps offer a variety of options for every interest and budget.  

We offer single-day camps (1 two-hour session each) and multi-day camps (3 two-hour sessions each).  Each camp highlights a different animal-related theme and campers get to tour the Humane Society.  Plus, each camp offers a variety of activities such as making fun crafts, playing animal-themed games, guest speakers and meeting four-legged furry friends! Choose the camp that's right for you!

During each program, campers will 

• take a tour of TAHS
• Make fun crafts related to their camp topic
• Play animal-themed games
• Meet some of our four-legged friends
• Meet TAHS mascot, George the cat
• Talk to guest speakers and enjoy camp-related presentations

Fur, Fins and Feathers
Fur, fins and feathers, oh my! Fly on over to TAHS and learn about all the small animals that perch and burrow here.  Make a fun craft and play an animal-themed game.

Mini Furball Fun

Paws-itively Safe Pet Safety - New!
Have you ever wondered what it really means when your cat’s tail stands straight up or what it means when the hair down the center of your dog’s back is standing on end? Join TAHS for a fun new camp designed to teach kids about pet safety and how to read pet body language.

Slither on over to TAHS and learn about some relatives of the dinosaurs.  Meet with a few scaly reptiles and make a fun craft.

Frisky Feline Fun

Have you ever wondered which animals have speckles, spots and stripes? Go on a scavenger hunt to find these cool critters.  Plus, meet our famous striped mascot, George, and his feline friends.

Canine Coaching
Let a professional dog trainer show you how to train your four-legged friend.  Discover what your canine is trying to tell you through their body language. And practice your skills with the trainer's dog.

CSI for Animals
Uncover the clues and look at the evidence.  As an Assistant Pet Detective, you'll meet with our real-life Animal Cops and see what it takes to be a Cruelty Officer. Take a look inside one of our Cruelty Investigation vans and learn the tools of the trade.

Pet Photography - New!
Capture the moment!  Our friends from SerendiPETy Photography will teach their tips and tricks to get your furry friend to pose for fantastic photos.  Bring your digital camera and practice taking snap shots of our animals here at TAHS.  Take a tour of our building and visit with some of our four-legged friends.

Horsin' Around - New!

Let Miss Judy's mane-ly dressage (equine training) class teach you all about horses.  Come see her star of the show, Arabian horse Andre.  Learn about horse care, breeds and feed horses.
