Animal Cop Adventures

Toledo Area Humane Society Animal Cruelty Officer Nancy Schilb has just released her second children’s book.  “Wise Wiley” is a funny, happy true story that illustrates the importance of teamwork and how working together can be the difference between success and failure. Education about animal cruelty begins with children. Officer Nancy is able to relate real-life stories about cases she has had that can offer important messages to children is a excellent stepping-stone to engaging and educating children to the importance of animal welfare.

“Wise Wiley” is about a real-life animal rescue call the Offices Nan receives about a goat on the loose. Officer Nan, her co-worker Aja and local firefighters must work together to catch the smart little goat and get him back to the Toledo Area Humane Society so he can get back where he belongs.

In March 2011, Officer Nan released her first book in the Animal Cop Adventures series, “Forrest the Hero”, a heartwarming story based on a true Toledo Area Humane Society animal cruelty case.  “Forrest the Hero” teaches children the difference one person—or animal—can make in the life of another. Young readers discover what happens when Officer Nan rescues Forrest—an abandoned, skinny dog who can barely walk. Forrest goes from forgotten victim to happy, beloved dog to family hero when he later rescues his new owner’s son.
