Pet Friendly Rental Housing Locations

You and your furry friend may discover that unfortunately many rental-housing properties have a "No Pets Allowed" policy. With 36.2% of people in Toledo renting, there are limited choices. They constitute a significant market share for the landlords. In the end, both parties are losing!

While difficult to find, there are rental properties that do allow pets. To help you with this, Natasha Bailey has created a database of properties (both apartments and mobile home parks) that allow pets and their restrictions. The list is broken down by geographic area, so you can easily search by North, South, West, or East Toledo.

This database is a work in progress. If you know of a property that is listed improperly, or not included, please let us know.

Currently, there are over 130,800,000 pets in the United States alone. The role that these pets play within these households is expanding. Pets are an important member of the family and are treated as such accordingly. A recent survey conducted by the American Animal Hospital Association revealed:

When given the choice of a human companion or animal on a deserted island more than half chose their cherished pet.

79% owners provide their pets with holiday and birthday presents.

62% owners sign letters and cards from both them and their pets.

What is even more remarkable is the fact that it is well over the majority of pet owners who consider their pet so vital! Also, the number of pet owners are beginning to outnumber the non-pet owners!

Pet ownership is a major factor that effects the standard demographics for present and potential tenants. According to a survey done by HSUS, "almost half of all renters in the United States have companion animals".

The income of these potential tenants is also a motivating factor in allowing pets. According to the 1996 No.431 Household Pet Ownership survey, there is a correlation between the income bracket and percentage of pet ownership:

Annual Income Dog % Cat %
$25-39,999 21.6 21.5
$40-59,999 21.5 21.2
